![]() The Lithuanian National Foundation, Inc. was founded as the principal fund raiser and supporter of national and cultural freedoms for Lithuania and Lithuanians throughout the world. It was incorporated in 1973 as a Not-For-Profit Corporation as defined in subparagraph (a) (5) of Section 102 of the Not-For Profit Corporation Law of the State of NY. During the years of Lithuania’s occupation by the Soviet Union the LNF sponsored such activities as: In pursuing these goals, the Foundation worked closely with the Supreme Committee for the Liberation of Lithuania; funded ELTA Information Bulletins published in 4-7 languages and distributed to western press agencies, US Government officials, libraries etc.; sponsored news broadcasts to Lithuania from four radio stations in the West. Since the re-establishment of Lithuania's independence on March 11, 1990, the LNF seeks to help the people of Lithuania to overcome the effects of 50 years of Soviet subjugation. On April 23, 1994, new bylaws were adopted which state, "The main purpose of the LNF is to foster the process of democratization in Lithuania by engaging in activities authorized by its Charter." |
