The major part of LNF funds is allocated for general education - in Lithuania's boarder schools and those outside its borders, schools in Eastern Lithuanian, schools in the Karaliaucius (Konigsberg) region - to which is added support of the press, book publishing and scholarships. In all, educational support amounts to over 50 percent of all support. Other funds are allocated according to need. One of the most important support factors is the democratic, humanistic and national rebuilding of Lithuania. Organizations which hold these aims are also afforded support. Funds are also allocated to memorialize Lithuania's sufferings - through memoirs and other forms - during those terrible experiences of the Soviet years. The LNF branch in Lithuania also receives a small percentage of support. However, the most important consideration is to reach people, especially young people in various ways and encourage their national consciousness.

Every year more than 200,000 dollars are spent on the development of projects, support and scholarships.
